Yorkshire club Hemsworth Dragons have teamed up with a local non-profit organisation called The Embrace Project, who make up gift parcels to hand out to young adults who are moving on to independent living and families who need extra support.
We thought we would let you know of what we are doing for the local community and within the club. We have teamed up with a local project called The Embrace Project. They are a non-profit organisation who make up gift parcels to hand out to young adults who are moving on to independent living and families who need the extra support with food parcels.
The club are going to provide 12 full family Christmas dinners to the community and as many as required within the club.
A message on social media from the charity read:
"We would like to announce that we have the pleasure of working along side the Hemsworth Dragons who are supporting us for this year's Christmas dinner appeal.
"This years appeal is named 'Operation Jingle Bell'.
"As last year, we donated four full family Christmas lunches, we are proud to say with the support of the Hemsworth Dragons we are looking to give out 12 (full family) Christmas dinners.
"Can I just say a massive thank you to Tracey, Jason and everyone at Hemsworth Dragons for supporting this Christmas appeal to enable this to happen.
"Nominations for Operation Jingle Bell are now open," they added.
"All you need to do is inbox us at the embrace (on Facebook by clicking HERE) with your nominated family and reason. We will then consider your request and let you know the outcome in due course.
"Thank you in advance for nominations, let's make it a better end to 2020 for families that need that extra help at Christmas."
Dragons Club Secretary Jason Alcorn said: "This is amazing for a small club like ourselves to be in the position of helping others.
"This is what we are about, and what Rugby League is about."
