2026 Women’s Nines Champions Revealed

2026 Women’s Nines Champions Revealed

The RFL Women’s Nines Festival once again delivered an exciting showcase of talent, energy and the growing strength of the women’s game. Teams from across the competition came together for a perfect day of Rugby League, filled with fast-paced action and fierce competition.

This year’s festival featured a new two-grade format, split into a Challenge Grade and a Community Grade. The introduction of these grades enabled more community teams to become involved, while ensuring competitive and enjoyable matches for all participants, along with thrilling action for spectators. The two-grade structure also created enhanced opportunities for teams to lift silverware, with both Championship and Shield Finals introduced across the grades.

In the Challenge Grade, Leeds Rhinos reclaimed the Women’s Nines Champions title for the first time since 2023. Following a dominant and determined run throughout the day, the Rhinos produced an impressive performance in the Final to overcome a spirited Manchester Swinton Lionesses side. Earlier in the competition, the Lionesses edged past the Women’s Super League Huddersfield Giants Women to secure their place in the final. The Challenge Grade also saw Wigan Warriors lift the Challenge Shield after defeating York Valkyrie in a hard-fought Shield Final.

The Community Grade proved equally competitive and compelling. Rochdale Hornets took centre stage by claiming the Community Grade Nines Champions title with a victory over Bradford Bulls Development in the Final. Meanwhile, the Community Grade Shield Final delivered one of the closest contests of the day, with Wigan St Patricks edging past Thatto Heath Crusaders in a gripping encounter.
