Leeds Rhinos Foundation supporting fundraising drive for PDRL star

The RFL are supporting Leeds Rhinos Foundation in a fundraising drive to aid PDRL player Mike Alderson following a hit and run incident which – whilst being in a stable condition – has left Alderson in hospital for a prolonged period with extensive injuries.

Mike become a part of the Leeds Rhinos side in 2022 and was part of the squad who were victorious in that season’s Grand Final. Alderson was also called up to the England RL Lions Development side earlier this year.

Leeds Rhinos PDRL have will look to raise funds via a charity game which will see the club’s PDRL side take on a PDRL All-Stars select at the Bartercard Training Ground in Kirkstall on Sunday 3rd December.

The fixture will get underway at 12:45pm and will consist of two 25-minute halves. Following the game, spectators are encouraged to join the respective teams at Milford ARLFC where extra fundraising activities will take place.

Rhinos Disability and Inclusion Co-Ordinator, Ed Bates, said: “Since joining us, Mike has become a valued teammate whose presence has been missed these past few weeks. His journey in PDRL has been brilliant to watch over the last two seasons.

“It’s saddening to hear about his accident, but the strength and resilience he’s shown throughout his journey has been unbelievable. It is impressive to see how his fellow teammates and the rest of the PDRL community have come together to support Mike, we are hoping that the 3rd of December will be a great occasion.”
