Wigan suffered a further blow in their build-up to next week's Challenge Cup final as they crashed to a 31-22 defeat at Hull FC.
Adam Swift scored two of the hosts' six tries as Brett Hodgson's men rebounded from a disappointing defeat to St Helens while the Warriors have now lost two Betfred Super League games on the bounce.
Wigan never recovered from a blistering start by Hull, who scored three tries in the opening quarter of an hour, an early brace by Swift complementing a Darnell McIntosh score on the right.
The visitors hauled their way back and were briefly level early in the second half after a converted Bevan French try, but they left themselves too much to do and later tries from Carlos Tuimavave and Tevita Satae sealed Hull's impressive win.
Catalans Dragons kept in touch with leaders St Helens as they turned around an 8-0 deficit to beat Hull KR 20-8 at Craven Park.
A much-improved Rovers dominated the opening period and led through an early try from Ben Crooks, only for the French side to reduce the arrears to four at the interval when Tom Davies squeezed over in the corner.
The momentum shifted when Matthieu Laguerre intercepted a loose pass by Will Dagger to score a length-of-the-field try early in the second half, with a further effort from Fouad Yaha and some clinical kicking by Arthur Mourgue sealing the hosts' fate.
