Hunslet will have double representation in the Fourth Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup after their professional team beat Siddal in Sunday’s televised Third Round tie to follow a famous win for the amateurs of Hunslet Club Parkside 24 hours earlier.
Jordan Pago, a former captain of England Colleges, scored four tries from the right wing as Hunslet finished strongly to earn a 30-4 win against their National Conference League visitors at the South Leeds Stadium.
Hunslet, who have twice won the Challenge Cup in 1908 and at Wembley in 1934, will now travel to Colwyn Bay to face the North Wales Crusaders in the Fourth Round on Sunday week, after the Crusaders claimed an impressive 20-14 win against their Betfred League One rivals Swinton Lions at Heywood Road in Sale.
Hunslet Club Parkside will have home advantage against Sheffield Eagles, the 1998 Challenge Cup winners, after their 28-6 win against London Skolars on Saturday at the New River Stadium on White Hart Lane – within striking distance of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which will be the venue for this year’s Betfred Challenge Cup Final on May 28.
Full details of the schedule of the Fourth Round ties from February 26-28, and also the Fifth Round draw, will be confirmed in the next 48 hours.
