Stuart Littler leaves Swinton Lions

Stuart Littler leaves Swinton Lions

Swinton Lions have parted company with Head Coach Stuart Littler after six years in charge at the club.

Littler, 42, initially moved to the club as a player in 2015 before moving to Assistant Coach, then Head Coach in 2017 after John Duffy left to take charge at Featherstone.

The Lions had enjoyed some high points and won ten games in 2019, but they are without a league win from 14 matches this season and sit bottom of the Betfred Championship table.

Confirming the news, a statement on swintonlionsrlfc.co.uk read:

"The Board wishes to acknowledge that Stuart Littler has been an outstanding servant to Swinton Lions over the past 6 years.

"He is a top-quality coach and a thoroughly decent human being. This season Stuart has had to contend with an unprecedented injury list, but we are in a results driven business, and the Board felt that the time had come for a fresh approach.

"We are sure that all Swinton fans will join us in thanking Stuart for his service, professionalism and work ethic, as we wish him nothing but the best in the future.

"Assistant Coach Allan Coleman has agreed take over first team affairs until the end of the 2021 season, at which point the Head Coach position will be reviewed."
