Betfred Championship round-up

Featherstone Rovers maintained their perfect start to the Betfred Championship campaign with a convincing 68-24 victory at Dewsbury Rams.

Rovers ran in 11 tries in total, with Dean Parata recording four scores, Craig Hall adding a hat-trick with 12 goals, while Gareth Gale grabbed a brace and Luke Cooper also crossed.

Bayley Liu, Tom Garratt, Reiss Butterworth and Lewis Carr all touched down for Dewsbury, who had Matty Fleming sin-binned in the 46th minute, as Featherstone made it nine wins from nine.

Batley Bulldogs climbed up to third in the table with a 22-20 success at York City Knights.

Batley led 10-0 at half-time through tries from Luke Hooley and Jodie Broughton but York hit back with three scores in seven second-half minutes from Ben Jones-Bishop and Kieran Dixon's double to move 18-10 ahead.

Jones-Bishop was sin-binned in the 62nd minute and Broughton immediately crossed for his second try to reduce the score to two points, before Dixon added a penalty.

However, Lucas Walshaw touched down with six minutes remaining and Hooley landed his third kick to seal the Bulldogs' seventh win of the season.

London Broncos came from behind to run out 46-12 winners against Whitehaven to secure their third straight Championship victory.

Tom Wilkinson and Liam Cooper put Haven 12-0 ahead after 25 minutes before Chris Hankinson kickstarted London's fightback.

The Wigan loan star finished with 22 points after his brace of tries either side of half-time, while James Meadows, Josh Hodson, Tendai Gwaze, Rhys Curran, Cory Aston and Jarrod Sammut also crossed the whitewash for the Broncos.

Swinton Lions remain winless after 10 matches following a 34-4 reverse at home to Halifax Panthers.

Scott Grix and Conor McGrath scored braces, while Ben Kavanagh and Amir Bourouh also touched down for Halifax. Luis Roberts scored a consolation try for Swinton, who had Tom Spencer sin-binned late on.

Widnes Vikings held on to beat Sheffield Eagles 30-20 after Adam Lawton scored two tries and was sent off after the full-time hooter.

Shane Grady, Joe Lyons and Danny Craven scored the Vikings' other tries, with Ryan Millar, James Glover's brace and Travis Corion proving in vain for Sheffield.

Jack Johnson's double helped Newcastle Thunder to a 40-6 triumph over Oldham.
