Try Tag Rugby expansion to grow Rugby League participation in Bournemouth, Glasgow and Nottingham
Rugby League is continuing to grow in new communities this spring, with Try Tag Rugby, official partners of the Rugby Football League, launching new social leagues in Bournemouth, Glasgow and Nottingham.
The expansion will give more people the chance to experience Rugby League in a simple, social and accessible format.
The launches will be supported by a series of Free Taster Sessions throughout April and May, giving people the opportunity to try the sport before the first leagues begin.
Try Tag Rugby is a minimal-contact, mixed-gender format designed to be accessible to all abilities. No previous rugby experience is required, with many players joining individually and being placed into teams.
Last summer, roughly 11,000 people played weekly in Try Tag Rugby leagues across 33 boroughs, towns and cities nationwide, with over 40% female participation, highlighting its growth as an inclusive and social way to play.
Free Taster Sessions
Free sessions will take place ahead of each league launch:
- Bournemouth – 7th, 13th and 18th April (league starts 27th April)
- Glasgow – 15th, 22nd and 25th April (league starts 6th May)
- Nottingham – 6th, 13th and 16th May (league starts 27th May)
The one-hour sessions provide a simple introduction to the sport in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
