The penultimate round of the Betfred Super League season took place over the weekend. But who were the standout performers?

With the opening ABK Beer Rugby League Ashes Test at Wembley Stadium edging ever closer, more players look to stake a claim for selection.

Leigh’s Owen Trout was on the scoresheet during the Leopards’ home win against the Saints. Trout has been in fine form this year and was rewarded with a call up to the England Train-on squad earlier this year as he looks to break into the Ashes squad this Autumn.

Youngster Harry Robertson was impressive in defeat for the Saints. The talented outside back had a hand in both of St Helens’ scores against the Leopards, assisting Kyle Feldt as well as crossing for his twelfth try of the season.

Liam Marshall and Ethan Havard were both on the scoresheet as Wigan romped home against Castleford to secure a home Play-Off Semi-Final. Marshall bagged a brace to take his Super League tally to 15 for the year, with Havard crossing for his second try of 2025.

Trinity pair Mike McMeeken and Tom Johnstone enjoyed a big win against top of the table Hull KR on Saturday. McMeeken played an impressive 62 minutes through the middle on what was his 350th career game, while Johnstone was at his industrious best, running for 120 metres from 19 carries.

Over in the NRL, Victor Radley’s Sydney Roosters exited the Finals after suffering a 20-10 defeat against Cronulla Sharks, while Morgan Smithies and the Canberra Raiders must win next week to keep their Grand Final dreams alive following a devastating golden point defeat to the Brisbane Broncos on Sunday.

Rivalries will be reignited when England take on Australia in the ABK Beer Rugby League Ashes this autumn. The two nations will meet in a three-match test series over 20 years in the making and with the second and third test completely SOLD OUT; Wembley Stadium on Saturday 25 October is your only place to watch this fierce rivalry live!
