The first-ever Premier Touch Rugby League (PTRL) event was hosted at Cottingham Tigers A.R.L.F.C on Saturday 5th July 2025.
It welcomed players, volunteers and spectators for a day that celebrated a social version of Rugby League where adults came together from different regions of the country to play in the mixed-version of the game.
The event marked the first stage of a two-part tournament, with Finals Day scheduled for Saturday 2nd August. The format featured a round-robin competition between four teams: Hull FC, Hull KR, Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors, all competing in a non-contact, mixed-gender version of Rugby League that emphasised accessibility and teamwork.

Touch Rugby League is more than just a game — it’s a gateway to better physical and mental health, stronger social bonds, and inclusive participation. With no tackling involved, the sport is ideal for people of all fitness levels and backgrounds, encouraging everyone to get active in a safe and welcoming environment.
“Rugby League has always been about teamwork, respect, and camaraderie — values that are deeply embedded in PTRL,” said Bradley Kelk, RFL's Social Officer. “Whether you're playing, volunteering or cheering from the sidelines, these events are all about skill development without the use of the tackle contact and enjoying the highs and lows Touch Rugby League provides.”
