Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup quarter finalists confirmed this weekend

The group stage of the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup concludes this weekend with a place in the quarter finals still up for grabs to those in action this weekend.
Current cup holders St Helens travel to Wales to face Cardiff Demons on Saturday (19 April, KO 2.30pm) with a win for either side seeing them finish top of Group A. The two teams are yet to meet in the Challenge Cup but have previously faced one another in the Women’s Nines.
The Demons arguably caused the biggest upset of the 2025 Women’s Nines Finals Day when they produced a stunning victory against the Red V to deny them a place in the knockout rounds. Leanne Burnell was the standout with her pace outwitting the Saints defence on four separate occasions and the Welsh side eventually recording a 17-9 win.
It’s all to play for in Group B on Friday (18 April, KO 8pm) when Featherstone Rovers host Huddersfield Giants in their final fixture. With both sides losing out to York Valkyrie in the opening games, a win for either team would see them progress to the quarter finals as runners-up.
The two sides faced each other twice in the Betfred Women’s Super League (BWSL) last season with the Giants successful on both occasions – including a 30-11 victory at the Millenium Stadium. The visitors were the first to get out of the blocks and rounded off a strong win with Jess Dadds, Amelia Brown, Frankie Townend and Mollie Iceton all on the scoreboard.
London Broncos are hoping for a first ever Women’s Challenge Cup quarter-final appearance but will need to overcome Super League’ Barrow Raiders away from home to get there (20 April, KO 12pm). It will be the first meeting of the two sides and Amanda Wilkinson will be hoping her team can improve on their 84-0 demolition by Wigan Warriors earlier this month.
Leigh Leopards will proceed to the Quarter Finals of the competition as the Runners-Up in Group C and will play York Valkyrie, who have already been confirmed as the winners of Group B following the abandonment of their scheduled fixture against Sheffield Eagles.
The final round of Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup group stage fixtures take place this weekend (April 19/20) - the winners and runners up of each group will then progress to the quarter finals on April 26/27 ahead of the semi-finals on May 10/11.
