Standout stats from the 2026 Betfred Challenge Cup Finals

2026’s Wembley Finals Day was a memorable occasion, as both Wigan Warriors sides dominated.

From the Betfred Men’s and Women’s Challenge Cup Finals, there were several stunning stats (All stats provided by Opta)...

In the Women’s Final, the Warriors ran in ten tries at Wembley Stadium, producing the highest scoring affair that the women’s competition has ever seen played at the national stadium.

Anna Davies emerged as her side’s top metre maker with 275 metres on the right edge. She also came up with a quickfire double, scoring on either side of half-time.

More history was made as Eva Hunter stole the show with four tries - equalling the record for tries scored by an individual player in the women’s final.

The Woman of Steel also ran 212 metres and made 11 tackle busts, as well as 16 tackles, completely blowing her opponents off the park.

Playmaker Jenna Foubister produced a Player of the Match performance. Two try assists and three line break assists helped Wigan to excel in their attack. Her phenomenal kicking game consisting of 220 kicking metres was also a key part of the Warriors’ ruthless display.

Cerys Jones was the top tackler for the Cherry & Whites, with 30, preventing St Helens from scoring any more than on one occasion.

In defeat, the likes of Emily Rudge and Jodie Cunningham produced monstrous efforts - 181 metres and 57 tackles combined, as they took to the big stage for one last dance ahead of retirement at the end of the year.

Did you know that Paige Travis completed 32 tackles - the highest of any player on the pitch?

Overall, the Warriors made a whopping 816 more gain-line metres than Saints (1724), as well as 16 line-breaks in comparison to one.

Denis Betts’ team enjoyed 54% of the possession yet only spent an astonishing two minutes in Saints’ 20m, highlighting their ability to run free and break through any defence with ease.

Their victory means the Warriors have lifted the Challenge Cup trophy back-to-back.

Similar in the Challenge Cup Final, it was all one-sided with Wigan, as they regained the title with a seven-try rout of Hull KR.

To dethrone the Robins, the Warriors were at their brilliant best, with seven of their stars surpassing 100 metres (Zach Eckersley with 171, Ethan Havard with 139, Noah Hodkinson with 137, Jai Field with 129, Oliver Partington with 115, Adam Keighran with 109, Sam Walters with 103).

Meanwhile, Hull KR really struggled to hit their recent heights. Their only real standout was Peta Hiku who scored his side’s singular try. He also made the most metres, along with Jack Broadbent (178). Tom Amone was the top tackler with 49 in 59 minutes.

Back to Wigan, and 20-year-old Jack Farrimond impressed on his Wembley debut. So much, that he was voted for as the 2026 Lance Todd Trophy winner.

Farrimond scored two breath-taking tries in the first half, followed by a try assist, and had a strong kicking game about him throughout the 80 minutes.

56 tackle busts were by the Wigan outfit on Saturday; Zach Eckersley topped the charts with 9.

More was to be written in the history books on Saturday, as Adam Keighran equalled the number of points scored by an individual player in a men's Challenge Cup Final (20). Keighran’s tally consisted of two tries and six goals, as he finally got to experience Wembley glory.

And let’s not forget Bevan French’s impact in his magical 19-minute stint. French returned from injury much earlier than anticipated and got himself on the scoresheet in just a matter of minutes - in trademark fashion too!

A win for Matt Peet's side means Wigan have extended their Challenge Cup record to 22 trophies. Will anybody ever be able to catch them?
