Masters Rugby League continues to thrive in the South

Masters Rugby League continues to thrive in the South

The Masters Rugby League season is in full flow following a festival and Match Officials course at Brixton Bulls.

Over 100 players from eight different teams attended the hugely successful festival – some travelling as far as Cardiff and Doncaster. The event was the first of its kind within the M25 and to mark the occasion London Broncos own Iliess Macani was on hand to help with match preparations and support from the sidelines.

There was also plenty of enthusiasm for the day’s Match Official course and there now 13 players that can now be called upon in the south to referee scheduled fixtures.

Doncaster Toll Bar won Masters Team of the Day for their exceptional commitment to attend the South Festival and for their role in introducing many new players to the game, showing how Masters Rugby League should be played.

Masters South Representative, Adie Smith, said:

“Brixton Bulls have been excellent in their growth of Masters Rugby League over the last two years, and this was recognised in my awarding them the honour of hosting this year’s festival - they did not disappoint.

“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to London Broncos for allowing Iliess Macani to take a break from his pre-match prep to come and support our day. He brought a signed Broncos shirt, which was auctioned on the day, the proceeds of which will go towards the continual development of Masters Rugby League in the South.”
