Female Rugby League Coaches Leadership and Performance coaching Programme

Female Rugby League Coaches Leadership and Performance coaching Programme

Applications are being invited for the Rugby Football Leagues’ third ‘Female Leadership & Performance Programme’, which has established itself as a sought-after development opportunity for coaches with ambitions to operate at a performance level or to become a coaches’ coach.

The course is led by the FA’s highly respected player care lead Jenny Coe, former head of coach development at West Ham United women and a published author on coach development. Jenny, who is also a coach developer for a number of Olympic and Paralympic coaches, will be supported by RFL Talent Inclusion Manager Phil Jones.

RFL Talent Inclusion Manager, Phil Jones, says: “The programme has been a tremendous success so far in supporting the development and growth of female coaches, and in evolving the elite performance eco-system. Graduates of the previous two leadership programme cohorts have gone on to a range of full and part time roles within the sport, including working with England Knights, the Women's Super League and RTFL performance pathways, and as coach educators.

“There are many talented people working in Rugby League and I’m really looking forward to receiving another tranche of applications for the third cohort.”

The Female Leadership & Performance Programme includes four workshops during a 12-month period, and offers online communities of practice and direct coaching support.

Applications should be made online at RFL Female Coach Development Programme 2023 - 2024 by Friday 20 October 2023. Applicants should be current and active Rugby League coaches (coaching at under 12 upwards) and aspire to become performance coaches.

Applications should also be supported by a short video of up to three minutes duration, answering the following questions.

1.     Why do you coach?

2.     What is coaching to you?

3.     What are your strengths as a coach?

4.     What excites you about the programme?

Videos should be sent to phil.jones@rfl.co.uk
