Social RL Preview: X-League Junior Touch Nationals

Social RL Preview: X-League Junior Touch Nationals

Saturday (September 17) sees the return of X-League action, with an introductory event in York and a Grand Prix in West Oxfordshire.

The introductory event is being hosted at York’s Heworth Rugby League Club, with a focus on welcoming new faces to the sport.

X-League Competition Manager, Declan Foy, said: “This event will see the introduction of new X-League teams – spearheaded by X-League ambassador Paul Mcdermott, we are looking forward to a fantastic afternoon of Rugby in York.

“The hope is that we add teams to our regular calendar of events, whilst also establishing a significant annual open competition as a beacon for clubs in the area.”

The more seasoned X-League players will also be looking ahead to Saturday, as the latest Grand Prix heads to Wood Green School in West Oxfordshire with Oldham X-League, West Oxfordshire Levellers and Scottish Highlanders all squaring off.

Declan Foy gave his thoughts on what is set to be yet another successful Grand Prix event: “This event sees us bring the curtains down on the inaugural X-League Grand Prix series which brought X-League around The UK and Ireland this summer.

“We’ve been delighted with the quality on show at all of these events and the progress we have made in adding teams and players to our X-League Family.

“We are also very excited about the upcoming World Cup event, which will end the X-League calendar for the year on November 11 & 12 – England Lionhearts head coach Chris Coates will be in attendance this weekend to run the rule over potential players in his World Cup Squad.”

There’s more Social Rugby League action elsewhere, as the England Touch Association take their Junior Touch Nationals to the Riverside Sports Complex in Nottingham across the weekend.

It’ll be a jam-packed weekend of Touch Rugby as boys’ and girls’ teams from England Touch Regions in the Under 14’s, Under 17’s and Under 19’s divisions all take to the field.
