Premier Sports to cover Betfred Championship Play-Offs

Premier Sports today reveals the details of extensive and exclusive coverage of the Betfred Championship Play-Offs - with viewing figures for the season already well past the One Million milestone.

Premier Sports will cover both Semi Finals on Sunday September 25 – now confirmed to be played at Leigh Sports Village at 2pm and the Millennium Stadium at Featherstone at 4pm – and then the Betfred Championship Grand Final on Sunday October 2 with a 630pm kick-off.

The winners of the match will secure promotion to the Betfred Super League in 2023 – and it will be played on the home ground of the higher-ranked team.

With one match from the First Round of the Play-Offs also shown on Monday September 19, that means Premier Sports will have covered 35 fixtures in the first year of their two-year partnership with the RFL – also including six Betfred Challenge Cup ties, and the Final of the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And cumulative viewing figures have already passed 1.1 million – with nine matches passing a peak viewing figure of 50,000, including two fixtures from the Betfred Championship Summer Bash at Headingley.

Mark Foster, the RFL’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “As we look forward to the biggest matches of the Betfred Championship season, it’s a good time to reflect on the success we’ve already had this year in our partnership with Premier Sports.

“They have brought a fresh new approach to their coverage of the Betfred Championship, Challenge Cup and the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup which has proved extremely popular with Rugby League supporters, and they have also taken our sport to a new audience.

“It’s been very pleasing that the big games in the Championship have attracted such strong viewing figures, especially in the Summer Bash.

“And the most exciting thing is we still have the climax of the season to come, culminating in the sudden death showdown for promotion to the Betfred Super League.”
