Betfred League One Preview | Round 12

Round 12 of the Betfred League One gets underway on Saturday afternoon as West Wales Raiders host Cornwall RLFC.

Kick-off at Stebonheath Park is at 3:00 PM and will be shown live on the Our League app. The clash sees the bottom two sides in Betfred League One face off and it will be the second time this season the two sides have met. West Wales made the trip to Cornwall a successful one in round eight, as the Raiders ran out 20-0 victors to register their one and only success this season. However, West Wales have since lost at home to Hunslet and London Skolars, as well as an away defeat at Midlands Hurricanes.

Cornwall will be looking for their first win on Saturday as they travel to Llanelli. Their last away match, Cornwall suffered a 54-16 loss at Swinton. In their next fixture, they were narrowly defeated 24-20 by the London Skolars in round 10.

London Skolars have a tough test as they host second place, Swinton Lions. Kick-off at the New River Stadium is 3:00 PM on Saturday.

Skolars struggled at the start of the season and lost their first seven fixtures. However, Joe Mbu’s side have bounced back and won their last three fixtures. Their 38-16 home win against Oldham was followed up with back-to-back away success at Cornwall and West Wales.

Swinton Lions sit second in the table going into the fixture on Saturday. Allan Coleman’s side have won eight of their 10 fixtures this season. The Lions come into the match in good form as they have won their previous five matches, which did include a 58-14 home victory over London Skolars. Swinton have won the previous 10 meetings between the two sides. The last time London Skolars defeated Swinton was July 2008.

Rochdale Hornets make the trip across the Pennines on Saturday to take on Hunslet at the South Leeds Stadium. Kick-off is at 3:00 PM.

The Hornets will be looking to record their first victory at the South Leeds stadium since December 2001. Rochdale sit fourth in the table with only three defeats from 10 matches, which all came against sides, who sit above them in the table. The Hornets will be looking to bounce back after losing 34-14 away at Swinton in their last fixture. Stand-off Lewis Sheridan has scored five tries in the last three meetings with Hunslet.

Hunslet sit mid-table in sixth position with five victories from their 10 Betfred League One matches this season. The hosts come into this fixture with confidence after winning two of their last three matches including an impressive 30-22 home win against third place North Wales Crusaders in round 11.

The North Wales Crusaders welcome Doncaster on Sunday afternoon to the Zip World Stadium. Kick-off in Colwyn Bay is at 2:30 PM.

However, Anthony Murray’s side have lost their last two matches with a 56-12 home defeat against Keighley Cougars was followed by a 30-22 loss away at Hunslet. Gavin Rodden will be looking to continue his try scoring form, the second rower has scored 13 tries in Betfred League One so far this season.

Doncaster will be hoping that their good record in North Wales continues on Sunday. The South Yorkshire club have won their last five visits to North Wales. However, Doncaster were heavily beaten 46-0 when the sides met earlier on in the season in round seven.

Doncaster bounced back from the 46-28 defeat at Rochdale with a 36-6 home win over Hunslet.

Mo Agoro will be looking to add to his 16 league tries already this season.
