Keighley Cougars made it consecutive Betfred League 1 victories as they overcame London Skolars 14-34 on Saturday afternoon in the capital.
Aaron Levy opened the scoring after six minutes for the Cougars, but the hosts soon hit back as Jerome Yates crossed following a Skolars 40-20. Neil Thorman’s conversion gave London the lead before two additional Thorman penalty goals furthered Skolars’ advantage to six points.
It wasn’t until London’s Jacob Ogden was sent to the sin-bin that Keighley managed to draw level. A low kick went to ground, and Matt Bailey was quickest to react to plant the ball down.
Keighley would add two more tries in quick succession before the interval. Kyle Kesik’s chip over the top was taken by prop-forward Jack Arnold for the first before Kesik repeated the play one minute later with Taylor Prell this time being the beneficiary.
The visitors continued where they left off after half-time with Ryan Wright burrowing over. Prell grabbed his second of the game with 15 minutes remaining to seal victory for Keighley.
Paulos Latu scored a late consolation for London.
