North East RL Grand Final Preview

North East RL Grand Final Preview

Jarrow Vikings are all set to take on Cramlington Rockets, 2.30pm kick off on Saturday at Kingston Park in this year's North East RL Men's Grand Final.

Both sides come into the big occasion after a rich season of form, they have only lost one fixture each in 2021, with Jarrow beating Cramlington 24-12 in a regular season fixture earlier this year.

To reach the finale Jarrow, coached by Adam Houston - who is also a coach for the impressive Northumbria University, produced a hard-fought 36-18 win over Wallsend Eagles in the semi-final.

Meanwhile Cramlington, led by Head Coach Jordan Robinson, who is Newcastle Thunder's General Manager, were in ruthless mood as they overcame Catterick 64-18 in their final four tie.

Cramlington's 20-man squad for the final features 13 players who have been produced by the club's own junior system, while - in the Jarrow set-up - the game will mark a first return to Kingston Park for Jason Payne since his departure from the role of Newcastle Thunder Head Coach in February 2019.
