First-ever win for Hull FC, and much more...

Super League

Castleford Tigers 14-14 Wigan Warriors

The weekend's only Women's Super League fixture saw ambitious Castleford host newcomers Wigan at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Sunday.

It was the Warriors' first-ever away game and, after tries from Georgia Wilson, Rachel Thompson and Gemma Walsh, and a Michelle Davis goal, they looked to be heading for a win, but the Tigers struck in the final minute to steal a point.

Kelsey Gentles and England's Tara Stanley scored first-half tries for the hosts, but Wigan led 10-8 at the break.

Walsh's try early in the second period game Wigan a six-point lead, but Katie Hepworth converted her own try in a dramatic finale to see the spoils shared.

Challenge Cup

In a break from league action for clubs outside the top tier, it was knockout time as the Challenge Cup rolled into action.

Leigh Miners Rangers, finalists in 2016, got their campaign off to a perfect start as they picked up a ruthless 54-4 win at Whitley Bay Barbarians, while Stanningley beat local rivals East Leeds 32-14.

Widnes Vikings also progressed to the next round, as Hull FC picked up their first-ever competitive win: Cassey Lawton bagged four tries as they overcame Oulton Raidettes 26-22 on home turf.
