Ahead of tonight's Ladbrokes Challenge Cup quarter-final, we look at Featherstone's 1967 Cup triumph...
May 13, 1967 saw Featherstone return to Wembley for a second time and the first since 1951. Their previous visit saw them lose 18-10 to Workington Town.
Led by Captain Malcolm Dixon, Featherstone went into the Final already having seen off Bradford, Wakefield, Castleford and Leeds en route to Wembley but it was Barrow who went into the Final as favourites.
In front of a crowd of 76,920 it was Featherstone who took an early lead through a Tom Smailes penalty before Delooze tied the score at 2-2 with a sucessful Barrow penalty.
First try of the game went to the Cumbrians with Tom Brophy touching down under the posts after some slick passing from the Barrow players.
Having gone five points down, Rovers were spurred into action and Arnold Morgan crashed over to level the scores.
By half-time Featherstone were back in front leading 9-7.
It was winger Vaughan Thomas who sealed Rovers win with a decisive try for the West Yorkshire team.
Smailes put Featherstone further in front as he added a try to his goals kicked.
Barrow managed to get a score back through Mike Watson but a 10 point deficit was too much to turnaround for the pre-game favourites.
Malcolm Dixon led the jubliant Featherstone up the famous Wembley steps to where the Queen presented the team with the trophy. Inspirational scrum-half, Carl Dooler was named Lance Todd trophy winner for the flat cappers.
