Swedish international Fabian Wikander proved influential as Sherwood Wolf Hunt retained the Division 1 title they won in 2015.
His introduction from the bench turned the tide to help Sherwood to a 30-18 win against Leamington Royals.
Royals started the brighter and went in at half time 16-6 up thanks to tries from Steve Alford, as well as wingers Andy Morgan and Adam Stanyard, plus two Tom Hyam goals.
Sherwood's points came from a Aaron Wycherley try, which was goaled by Matty Upton.
But Sherwood came out all guns blazing in the second half; Dan Pearson crossed and then the fresh Wikander crossed for a double.
A penalty goal from the Royals in response saw the scores at 24-18 to the Wolf Hunt with 10 minutes remaining.
Both teams traded blows as they searched for the crucial score, but it was Sherwood, with the last play of the game, who could finally celebrate as hardworking loose forward Lee Chapman scored under the posts and hooker Luke Walters kicked his fourth conversion of the day.

Meanwhile, the Premier Division title went to Coventry Dragons, who overcame Northampton Demons 34-8.
Coventry ended the Demons hopes of a third consecutive win in the Midlands Premier Division final with a comprehensive victory at a blustery Sutton Coldfield RFC.
The dragons raced in to a 12-0 lead with tries through Mark Hyslop and Jay Neath, both converted by scrum half Scott Clendenning.
Northampton hit back with an unconverted try from Tom Bailey, but Paul Gascoigne restored the Dragons 12-point lead by half time.
An early second-half try from Alex Stephens brought the demons within eight points, but that was the closest they got with Coventry running in three converted tries through Connor Slater, Alton McVey and industrious Man of the Match Harry Kaufman to make the final score 34 8.
