Midlands and London & East Men’s League Grand Finals take place this weekend

Midlands and London & East Men’s League Grand Finals take place this weekend

On Saturday 15 August, the Men’s League Grand Finals will take place in both the Midlands and the South.

The Midlands Finals will feature Division One and Premier Division fixtures, while the London & East Premier Division final will also be played

The winners of the two Premier Division finals will later meet in the Harry Jepson Trophy on Saturday 22 August.

Midlands Men’s League Finals

Division One - Peterborough Rugby League v Staffordshire Quantums

Premier Division – Telford Raiders v Sherwood Wolf Hunt

The Midlands Premier Division Final will see the top two teams in the division go head-to-head, having been separated only by points difference at the end of the regular season, with Telford Raiders finishing top of the table. There has been little to separate the two sides throughout the season, with both recording one win apiece in their two meetings.

The Division One Final will also be contested by the teams finishing first and second, with table-toppers Peterborough Rugby League taking on Staffordshire Quantums. Peterborough, who remain undefeated this season, secured their place in the Final with an impressive 50-36 victory over Leamington Royals, while Staffordshire overcame North East Worcestershire Ravens 90-28 in their semi-final.

Telford are the current defending champions, having won the title in each of the past three seasons. Sherwood, meanwhile, are making their first final appearance since returning from the Yorkshire Men’s League.

London & East Men’s League Final

Premier Division - Brixton Bulls v Elmbridge Eagles

The London & East Premier Division welcomed back Bedford Tigers A, London Chargers A and Wests Warriors A this season, expanding the competition to eight teams. The race for the top places went down to the final game, with three teams finishing level on points. In the semi-finals, Brixton Bulls edged Wests Warriors A 44-38, while Elmbridge Eagles beat Medway Dragons 24-8 to secure their place in the final.

Elmbridge, runners-up last year, will be aiming to go one better this time, while Brixton return to the final after finishing runners-up two years ago. Both sides will be determined to claim the title.
