Leeds Rhinos and Halifax to contest Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final

The 2016 Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final will take place in Huddersfield on Saturday.

West Yorkshire rivals Leeds Rhinos and Halifax will go head-to-head on Saturday in the 2016 Wheelchair Rugby League Challenge Cup Final.

Held at Huddersfield Sports Centre (HD1 4BP) and kicking off at 1.30pm, the game sees two of Wheelchair RL's heavyweights come together as Premier Division leaders Halifax, who boast a 100 per cent record in 2016, clash with second-placed Leeds.

The game also sees England team mates James Simpson and Jack Brown go up against each other.

Looking ahead to the match, Leeds Rhinos Captain James Simpson said: "Halifax are one of the founding teams in our sport, the double winners of last year, and with an immense talent leading them on the field.

"We'll be the underdogs going into this game but that puts all the pressure firmly on them."

In the other camp, Simpson's England team mate Jack Brown captains Fax, the favourites for the title, and he added: "We are really looking forward to this.

"Our last game was really tough against Medway (a 66-48 away win) and served as a great push in the right direction in terms of training intensity.

"We may have beaten Leeds in past games but, with their form improving all the time this year, we know we will have to be at our very best to turn them over."

A 144-4 win at Glasgow Eagles proved to be the highlight of the Rhinos' road to the final, while a 104-48 win over Medway Dragons ensured their progress to the showpiece event.

Halifax's place in the final was secured with a pulsating 84-35 semi-final win over Bradford Bulls.
