Courtney Hill was named as the 2019 Telegraph Woman of Steel at the inaugural Super League Awards evening at The Lowry Theatre, Salford.
Hill has had a terrific season which has seen her lead Leeds Rhinos to a Coral Challenge Cup triumph against a much-favored Castleford Tigers side at the University of Bolton Stadium as well as to the Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final.
The Australian half-back’s Rhinos will face Castleford once more in the Women’s Super League Grand Final on Friday 11 October, 7:30pm, at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
On winning the award, Hill said: “I really didn’t think I’d take the award. It’s a little surreal.
“It’s lovely to be recognised particularly given that it is an opponent vote. It’s great to know that you're seen is such a high regard by your opponents.”
Just hours earlier Hill had set up the winning try in Leeds Rhinos’ semi-final victory over St Helens to confirm their place in the Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final.
“It’s been a crazy day,” Hill said.
She added: “We got off the bus at St Helens with a job to do and I asked all the girls who were coming to the awards to leave all their dresses, make-up, hair straighteners on the bus as it was time to put our heads down and knuckle in for a while.
