Abi Ekoku

Abi Ekoku is a Business Development & Strategy Consultant with significant experience in leading professional service teams and managing multi stakeholder groups - from Design & Planning, through Construction and across Marketing, Sales and Client Relations - primarily in property development and leisure investment environments. 

A former England & Team GB international athlete, Abi switched to professional Rugby League in the 1993-4 season.  Initially joining the London Broncos (nee Crusaders), he moved to Halifax RLFC for two seasons before joining the Bradford Bulls, where he was a member of the Super League winning team in 1997 and played in a Wembley Challenge Cup Final that same year. 

Following retirement, Abi was appointed as full-time Chair of the Rugby League Players’ Association, enjoying a successful 12-month stint before leaving to become Managing Director of Keighley Cougars. In 2000 he returned to Bradford Bulls as CEO, where he played a key role during a golden period in the Club’s history - 2 Super League Grand Finals, 2 Challenge Cup Finals and 2 World Club Challenges won during his tenure. 

Abi also served as Great Britain Rugby League Team Manager for 10 International Fixtures - incl. the 2006 Gillette Tri-Nations Series and the successful home series against New Zealand in 2007. 

Abi brings a wealth of sports specific and wider cultural sector industry advisory experience; with engagements ranging from Race Equality, Safeguarding and Anti-Doping; to Major Event Management, Digital Strategy and Facility Development.
