Keynote speakers:
· Tony Smith
Tony Smith is a former Super League and international Head Coach, renowned for his extensive and trophy-laden career, having led both the Great Britain and England national teams, and coached numerous major clubs. His Super League journey includes successful spells at the Leeds Rhinos, where he secured two Super League Grand Final victories (2004, 2007) and one World Club Challenge (2005), and the Warrington Wolves, where he famously won the Challenge Cup on three occasions (2009, 2010, 2012) and two League Leaders' Shields. He also held head coaching roles at the Huddersfield Giants, Hull Kingston Rovers, and Hull F.C., and was named the RLIF Coach of the Year in 2007. Tony is widely respected for his ability to build strong team cultures, his longevity in the game, and having an enduring coaching legacy in UK rugby league
· James Simpson-Hill OBE
James Simpson is a former British Army soldier turned elite wheelchair rugby league player and coach. After losing both legs in an IED explosion during his second tour in Afghanistan in 2009, James underwent extensive rehabilitation and learned to walk again using prosthetics. His resilience led him to discover Wheelchair Rugby League, where he became a founding member of the Leeds Rhinos Wheelchair team in 2012 which progressed to an extensive international career representing the England team in 2 world cups.
Over a decade-long playing career, James earned 31 caps for England, participating in the 2017 and 2021 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cups, with the latter culminating in a historic victory over France. He played in seven Grand Finals, winning titles in 2018 and 2021, and captained Leeds to three Challenge Cup victories and multiple League Leaders' Shields.
Following his retirement in 2022, James transitioned into coaching, becoming head coach of Leeds Rhinos Wheelchair team. Under his leadership, the team continued its dominance, reaching major finals and winning league titles. He also became the first Wheelchair Rugby League coach to earn a UKCC Level 3 Coaching Certificate, and has served as a passionate ambassador for the sport, helping raise its profile nationally.
· Shaun Wane
Shaun Wane is a highly respected rugby league coach renowned for his leadership, intensity, and winning mentality. After a successful playing career, he transitioned into coaching and rose through the ranks at Wigan Warriors, becoming head coach in 2011. During his tenure, Shaun led Wigan to three Super League titles, two Challenge Cup victories, and a World Club Challenge triumph, establishing the club as a dominant force in the modern era. Following his club success, he took charge of the England national team in 2020, bringing his trademark standards of toughness, discipline, and pride to the international stage. Under his guidance, the England reached the Rugby League World Cup Semi-Final (2022) and subsequent Test Series wins, including a 3-0 victory over Tonga (2023) and a 2-0 win over Samoa (2024).
· Genna Banks
Genna Banks is the visionary architect of the player journey for the Women & Girls pathway at Wigan Warriors. Her key role is to plan, design, and align the long-term developmental map that guides young female athletes from grassroots to the first team. An experienced coach and former player, Genna spent seven years at Leigh Miners Rangers, where she was instrumental in establishing and charting the course for one of the country's most successful girls' sections. Her focus on designing a clear, purposeful pathway to help every player reach their highest potential, fostering the next generation of female rugby league stars
· Grace Banks
Fullback, Wigan Warriors Women England International
Grace Banks is one of the most exciting young talents in Women's Rugby League, playing Fullback for the Wigan Warriors Women. Graces was the pivotal Player of the Match in the 2025 Betfred Women's Challenge Cup Final at Wembley, contributing significantly to Wigan's successful campaign which also secured the League Leaders' Shield and the Super League Grand Final in the 2025 season. She is an England International at multiple levels including, DiSE (Diploma in Sporting Excellence), Students (winning the RFL President's Cup in 2023, scoring two tries), Community Lions and selected for the England Women squad for a Test against Wales in August 2025.
