Registration is now open for the England Universities Rugby League Regional Trials, with all players having ambitions to play for England in 2027 invited to register.
In 2026, England were crowned Four Nations champions after victories over Scotland, Ireland and a vastly improved Wales side, but were beaten by the GB Teachers who secured their first RFL President’s Cup title.
England will again do battle for the Student Rugby League Four Nations trophy and compete in the President’s Cup, with fixtures taking place in April, May and June 2027.
The pathway to England begins with selection for the region in which a student is studying, with a round of inter-regional games all taking place at Loughborough University on Saturday 28th November 2026. Fixtures and kick off times will be confirmed in due course.
The second stage to selection is the University Rugby League Origin game, which pits North (Yorkshire, North East and North West) against South (Midlands, South East and South West) with the game set to take place on Saturday 6th February 2027, also at Loughborough University.
Trials and training for the six regional sides will take place on the weekends of 7th/8th, 14th/15th and 21st/22nd November, with precise details to be communicated to players as they register from their respective region.
All students who wish to trial need to register their interest by no later than Friday 6th November. To register your interest please do so here.
Players should register for the region in which they are at university. Anyone wishing to assist with coaching or managing on the pathway is also invited to contact to Mark Sloan via msloan78@googlemail.com to express interest.
