Celebrating Rugby League’s Grand Day Out

Rugby League’s 2026 Grand Day Out proudly welcomed over 500 players and visitors to the biggest social and inclusion festival in the sporting calendar.   

Common Edge Community Sports Village home of Blackpool Scorpions ARLFC hosted an outstanding Grand Day Out, highlighting Rugby League’s inclusivity as players and supporters came together to make the event a success. The Scorpions’ ground brought together: Community Integrated Care’s 27 Learning Disability Super League teams, 8 Physical Disability Rugby League teams and the Tryz disability inclusive programme aimed at younger players. 

Among the day’s participants were PDRL England Community Lions squad members representing their clubs. The PDRL England Community Lions will travel to Australia later this year as they aim to retain their World Cup title, sponsored by partners Medequip.  

To conclude a brilliant day of Rugby League activity, the event ended with an exciting PDRL final, the last match of the PDRL domestic season. The final saw Wigan Warriors face Wakefield Trinity in a North West vs Yorkshire heated-styled clash, which saw Wigan Warriors eventually emerge victorious with a 24-4 win.  

The RFL’s National Inclusion Manager, Chris Godfrey, said: “Rugby League is for everyone, and nothing demonstrates this more than the Grand Day Out.

“I would like to thank Blackpool Scorpions for their support in hosting the festival, and all the teams, players and volunteers whose passion and dedication made this such a unique and wonderful event.
