Cumbria Men’s League is one of many leagues taking part in finals day this weekend on Saturday (15 August)!
The exciting weekend begins with an 11am kick-off as the first silverware is decided at the Cumbria Men’s League Cup Finals Day, held at the Recreation Ground in Whitehaven.
How the Finals Were Decided
Following the group stage, in which 14 teams each played four matches, the competition split into three knockout paths: the Cup, Trophy and Shield. Teams finishing first to fourth progressed to the Cup semi-finals, fifth to eighth entered the Trophy semi-finals, and ninth to twelfth moved into the Shield semi-finals.
Finals Schedule
Shield Final - Maryport A v Hensingham A (K.O. 11am)
Maryport A will face Hensingham A after Maryport defeated Flimby Vikings 52-22 and Hensingham beat Glasson Rangers 35-16 in the semi-finals.
Trophy Final - Roose Pioneers v Kells A (K.O. 1pm)
Roose Pioneers will take on Kells A. Roose progressed after one Trophy semi-final was not played, while Kells secured their place with a 42-28 win over Egremont Rangers A. The fixture brings together teams from across the county.
Cup Final - Wath Brow Hornets A v Lowca (K.O. 3pm)
Lowca will meet Wath Brow Hornets A in the final match of the day. Lowca overcame Aspatria Hornets 50-12, while Wath Brow defeated Askam 30-6 in what proved to be one of the standout ties of the semi-finals.
