Thank you, Ken Davy
The Rugby Football League has paid tribute to Ken Davy for his unwavering and long-running commitment to Rugby League and, in particular, Huddersfield Giants.
Ken has announced that, after 30 years, he is standing down as the club's Chair.
He has been the longest-serving Chair in Betfred Super League, having been in post since January 1996.
He also took on the role of Super League (Europe) Interim Chairman at a vital time in 2021, helping lead the realignment of the sport's governance, partnership with IMG and creation of Rugby League Commercial over a two-year period.
RFL Chair and Rugby League Commercial Chair Nigel Wood OBE said: “The sport of rugby league is indebted to a number of dedicated and committed individuals whose financial support over many years has supported our sport. Ken Davy's tenure as chairman of Huddersfield Giants is perhaps the most notable of many. His financial support of the club by himself, his late wife Jennifer and their family over the years is a tribute to their enduring love for Huddersfield, Fartown, the Giants and Rugby League generally.

"His financial support of the club by himself, his late wife Jennifer and their family over the years is a tribute to their enduring love for Huddersfield, Fartown, the Giants and Rugby League generally.
"Throughout his tenure, Ken has conducted himself with great honour, dignity and generosity of spirit in all of his dealings and is widely respected around the rugby league community.
"I am sure I speak for everyone in wishing him well as he steps back, noting, of course, that his support for his club remains unabated, and unequivocal.
"Ken Davy has been a wonderful friend to Rugby League and we place on record our thanks for his dedication and commitment to the sport.
“I know how much winning the League Leaders' Shield for the first time in 81 years meant to him, as well as three Challenge Cup final appearances.
"We also should remember how he stepped up when the wider sport needed him in 2021 to become Super League Chair and help it navigate through a difficult period following the Covid pandemic."
