Women’s Origin squads selected ahead of Game 2 at Boundary Park

Women’s Origin squads selected ahead of Game 2 at Boundary Park

England Women Head Coach Stuart Barrow has named two regional squads as preparations continue for the second Origin instalment on Saturday 18 October at Boundary Park (KO 2pm).

Newly crowned Woman of Steel Eva Hunter is selected alongside nine of her Wigan Warriors teammates. The 20-year-old second-row has had a stunning season with the Warriors who have completed a treble of the major domestic honours.

St Helens have eleven inclusions with four of those set to represent Yorkshire – including Amy Hardcastle who makes her return after a period on the sidelines for Saints with a broken fibula.

York Valkyrie have five players picked to represent the White Rose with Evie Sexton and Izzy Bibby both poised to make their debut for Yorkshire, winger Eboni Partington has been selected to represent Lancashire.

The remaining selected players are drawn from three Betfred Women’s Super League sides – Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards.

Earlier this year, Lancashire celebrated a dominant 50-8 victory over their rivals at Sewell Group Craven Park and next Saturday's clash will also include a curtain raiser between Waterhead and Hindley Hinds U13 Girls.

England Women Head Coach, Stuart Barrow, said: “First of all I would like to congratulate Wigan Warriors and St Helens for a brilliant Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final. It was a closely fought contest played in front of a record crowd – congratulations to them both.

“It’s been another competitive season in Super League with lots of rugby played which means we have picked up a few injuries to each squad ahead of this fixture, but this will give some new names a chance to test themselves whilst representing Lancashire or Yorkshire.”

The Lancashire versus Yorkshire clash will be streamed live on the England Rugby League YouTube channel with entry to Boundary Park free on October 18.
