St Helens’ England contingent starred in Round 23 of Betfred Super League in the latest England Watch...

Jack Welsby returned to the Saints starting side for the first time since suffering a long-term knee injury and he wasted no time getting back to his influential best, setting up a try in his sides 16-10 win against Hull FC.

Welsby’s club and country teammate Morgan Knowles continued his fine form in Round 23, picking up player of the match for his standout performance. Knowles scored a brilliant solo try to open the scoring on Friday Night, as well as making 47 tackles, two clean breaks and 125 run metres.

Junior Nsemba made a try scoring return for the Warriors in their victory against Wakefield on Sunday. Nsemba missed last week's top of the table clash against Hull KR due to concussion protocols but returned in Round 23 and made an immediate impact from the bench.

Liam Marshall ensured his name remains fairly in the conversation for England selection in October. The Warriors winger crossed for a try and set up another during their big home win, as he looks to cement a spot in Shaun Wane’s test squad at seasons end.

Elsewhere in Super League, Harry Newman crossed the whitewash during Leeds Rhinos’ impressive Round 23 victory against the table topping Robins.

In the NRL, Morgan Smithies edged closer to securing the Minor Premiership after his Canberra Raiders side defeated reigning Premiers Penrith in a thrilling golden point clash.

England veteran John Bateman enjoyed a dramatic victory against his former club, while it was a tough weekend for some of the other England NRL contingent, with Victor Radley (Sydney Roosters), Dom Young and Kai Pearce-Paul (both Newcastle Knights) all tasting defeat in Round 25.
