Featherstone Rovers will play York Knights in the sixth AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final on Saturday June 7 at Wembley Stadium – a repeat of the competition’s second Final which was also played at Wembley four years ago.
Rovers won that meeting 41-34, meaning they will be aiming to become the first club to win the competition twice – while York will be aiming to make history by winning at Wembley, as in addition to that 2021 defeat against Featherstone, the original York club lost to Halifax in the 1931 Challenge Cup Final which was their only previous appearance at the National Stadium.
The clubs booked their Wembley places with impressive Semi Final wins.
Featherstone were convincing 40-14 victors against Oldham at Boundary Park, while the Knights beat Bradford Bulls 28-20 at the LNER Community Stadium.
