The draw for the Semi Finals of the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup will be held next Sunday (April 13) at 220pm at Boundary Park, before Oldham’s Betfred Championship fixture against Featherstone Rovers – and broadcast live on BBC Radio Manchester.
Oldham and Featherstone were two of the four Championship teams who booked their Semi Final places yesterday, alongside Bradford Bulls and York Knights – with all four now 80 minutes from the Wembley Final on Saturday June 7.
The draw numbers will be alphabetical, meaning Bradford Bulls are number one, after their Quarter Final win against Sheffield Eagles – as they aim for a first appearance in the Final of the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup, which would mean their first trip to Wembley since consecutive Challenge Cup Final defeats in 1996 and 1997.
Featherstone Rovers will be number two in the draw, and the only one of the 2025 Semi Finalists to have won the competition, with victory over York at Wembley in the 2022 Final. Rovers also lost to Leigh in the 2023 Final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Oldham will be number three as they aim to secure a first Wembley appearance for the town’s Rugby League club, who were founder members of the Northern Union in 1895, and won the Challenge Cup three times before the Final was taken to Wembley in 1929.
York Knights will be number four after a convincing win against Widnes Vikings in Sunday’s Semi Final, taking them to within 80 minutes of their another Wembley appearance since their sole Challenge Cup Final appearance in 1931 and 1895 Cup Final appearance in 2021 – and they would be looking to make amends for that 2021 Final defeat by Featherstone three years ago.
The Semi Finals will be played on the weekend of May 17-18, with the sixth AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final at Wembley three weeks later, on Saturday June 7.
