Round 4 of the Betfred Challenge Cup is complete – and Monday night’s quarter-finals draw will be an all-Betfred Super League affair.
And there will be a new name on the trophy for 2025, as current holders Wigan Warriors exited the competition in dramatic fashion.
Hull FC pulled off the shock of the round in Saturday’s stand out tie, with a sensational comeback win over Matt Peet’s men at The Brick Community Stadium.
It was a tale of two halves as the Warriors raced into a 16-point lead in the first forty, following tries from Zach Eckersley, Jai Field and Junior Nsemba.
But a second-half hat-trick from the Black & Whites’ winger Lewis Martin and tries from Herman Ese'ese and Amir Bourouh would set up a grandstand finish live on BBC Sport, as the visitors earned an emphatic 22-26 victory over the record 21-time Challenge Cup winners.
On Friday night, and live on The Sportsman, Wigan’s rivals St Helens ensured their place in the last eight, with a 22-14 win over Leeds Rhinos.
Kyle Feldt’s try gave Saints a narrow lead at the break, before the hosts thrice scored through Tristan Sailor, Matt Whitley and Harry Robertson to gain a 20-point advantage.
Despite a late Leeds rally with both Ash Handley and Harry Newman touching down, St Helens would always prove too strong.
Meanwhile, Hull KR ran riot against Oldham with in a seven-try spectacle, including a brace from Oliver Gildart (40-0).
And at times it did look look like Bradford Bulls and Widnes Vikings might break the Super League stranglehold and clinch two of the eight places for the Betfred Championship.
The Bulls came close against Salford Red Devils, responding with a blitz of three tries to Esan Marsters’ early score for the hosts.
Guy Armitage’s brace and Zac Fulton's effort put Brian Noble’s men in front, before Ryan Brierley regained the lead for the Red Devils.
Bradford continued to believe when Kieran Gill crossed in the second stanza, although tries from Jayden Nikorima and Ethan Ryan would see the Championship side exit from the cup (26-16).
In a thrilling derby against Warrington Wolves, the Vikings struck first through Danny Langtree, before going on to lead twice throughout the game.
It was a neck and neck battle at the DCBL Stadium, which recorded its highest attendance since 2017 with a crowd of 7,000+ - and it was two late tries from the visitors’ Ben Currie and Zane Musgrove that would eventually edge a 16-26 win for the Super League side, as Widnes valiantly bowed out.
There were plenty of points in Saturday's remaining Fourth Round tie as Catalans Dragons comfortably progressed to the Quarter-Finals with a big 46-18 win over Featherstone Rovers - courtesy of a Sam Tomkins masterclass on his return to action.
Then, on Sunday, Leigh Leopards cruised to victory against Batley Bulldogs and reached the quarters (62-4), whilst Tom Johnstone's two tries helped secure Wakefield Trinity's name in the hat for tomorrow's draw (12-22).
