Betfred League One Round Up | Round 19

The home sides dominated in Round 19 of Betfred League One, with three of the four sides being victorious.

Lloyd Mcwean-Peters had a Keighley Cougars debut to remember. The winger scored four times in their 72-12 victory over Newcastle Thunder.

But the victory wasn’t enough to close the gap to league leaders, Oldham, who kept Midlands Hurricanes scoreless at Boundary Park. The Roughyeds scored six tries through six different scorers in their 32-0 success.

Rochdale then prevailed in a high scoring affair, and had a commanding 28-6 lead. Cornwall managed to fight back in the second half, but they were unable to bridge the gap and suffered a 46-32 defeat.

The final match of the round saw Workington Town narrowly defeated by the North Wales Crusaders. The Cumbrian side looked strong in the first forty scoring four tries - three of which converted by Carl Forber who was making his 350th appearance for Town.

A pivotal moment in the game was just before the interval when Jordan Burns saw red for the hosts. Chris Barratt then scored twice as Crusaders came from behind to win 28-24, and complete a double over their opponents.
