Betfred League One is back for Round 9 as the teams start to meet each other again for a second time this season…
Only one game took place last weekend, as Cornwall claimed their first victory of the 2024 season with an incredible win over Midlands Hurricanes away from home.
In what was a close contest, the Choughs had trailed 22-12 with six minutes left on the clock. But two sensational tries from their very own Cameron Brown would quickly level the scores, before the playmaker calmly converted the final kick to clinch an unforgettable win.
On to Round 9 and Cornwall will face table toppers Oldham at The Memorial Ground. The Roughyeds ran riot in their previous meeting at Boundary Park last month, but with a win under their belt, Cornwall will be more than up for this challenge. Could we see a different game this time around?
Midlands Hurricanes have back-to-back home fixtures and will aim to bounce straight back against Newcastle Thunder on Sunday. This will be Thunder’s second trip to the Alexander Stadium this season – the Hurricanes running out confident 70-16 victors in Round 2.
Newcastle are still searching for their first win heading into this game.
Over at Colwyn Bay North Wales Crusaders will look to end their three game losing streak when they take on Keighley Cougars. The Cougars’ unbeaten run came to an end against Hunslet in Round 8; although they are still level on points with current league leaders Oldham having played an extra game.
Keighley will be keen to right their wrongs of last week and hopefully produce another strong win over the Crusaders like they did in Round 5.
Finally, it’s 4th v 5th as Rochdale Hornets play hosts to Workington Town. The Cumbrian outfit have won their last eight meetings with the Hornets including a 32-22 victory earlier on in the year. Will another try fest unfold in Round 9?
