Oldham and Keighley continued their unbeaten starts to 2024’s Betfred League One on Sunday.
Sean Long’s men came away with a hard fought victory over Cornwall at Boundary Park - a side who made life difficult for the hosts for large periods of the game.
Oldham were looking to back up a magnificent win against Hunslet last weekend, and did so with seven superb tries, including four from Cian Tyrer on the left edge - who becomes the outright leading try-scorer in 2024’s League One competition so far.
But a valiant effort from the spirited Choughs did not go unnoticed, who were on the scoresheet in either half through Harry Aaronson and Tom Ashton.
Keighley Cougars made it four from four with a gutsy win over North Wales Crusaders, who were consigned to their first defeat of the league season.
The scores were tied at 6-6 in the first forty, but a quick fire Billy Walkley brace after the break put the Cougars nicely ahead, before Lewis Hatton crashed over in the final quarter to seal a home win.
The action at Alexander Stadium saw a scoring spree unfold on Sunday afternoon, as Midlands Hurricanes and Hunslet went head-to-head.
Both teams came into this Round 5 fixture hoping to bounce back from a loss in the previous round, as fans witnessed an electric encounter between the two sides.
Midlands led 26-18 at the break, but a late fight back from the West Yorkshiremen would see the visitors dot down for two tries in three minutes to snatch the spoils.
Elsewhere, Rochdale Hornets returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, with a 68-4 home win over Newcastle Thunder - their first league victory on home soil.
