NCL fixtures to hold a minute's silence in memory of Gabriel Holt

There will be a minute’s silence before all fixtures in the National Conference League this weekend in memory of Gabriel Holt, the Wigan St Patricks and Wales Students player who has died at the age of 21.

Gabriel, a student at the University of Central Lancashire, was a popular figure and respected player at St Patricks and also his former clubs Folly Lane and Leigh East.

Alan Smith, the RFL's Community Game Senior Administrator, said:

“On behalf of the NCL Management I wish to send sincere condolences to the family, friends and team-mates of Gabriel. He played for Folly Lane and Leigh East before joining Wigan St Patricks as a junior and moving on to their Open Age sides, scoring two tries in the NCL this season as well as playing for St John Rigby College, UCLAN and Wales Students during his studies.”

The NCL programme begins in Wigan on Thursday night when Ince Rose Bridge host Clock Face Miners, with St Patricks travelling to Warrington to face Woolston Rovers on Saturday in what will be a poignant day for all.

Cath Taylor, the Chair of St Pats, said:

“Gabe you will be missed by so many, forgotten by no-one and thank God I got to see that try you scored to help our lads secure our first victory at Leigh Miners…so glad you decided to make our club your home and us your second family, rest easy young man.”
