After finishing top of the league table to secure home advantage in the Grand Final, Saints clinched the title with a 22-6 win over Warrington Wolves at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
The latest generation of Saints were presented with their jerseys by two genuine greats of the club whose outstanding careers started in the same junior ranks – current head coach Paul Wellens and James Roby, who is due to make his farewell home appearance in next weekend’s Betfred Super League Play-Off against the Wolves.
It was a tight, competitive match throughout, but Saints broke the deadlock when a break by Harry Robertson led to Owen Dagnall scoring on the left.
They extended that advantage to 10-0 at half-time after Dayon Sambou laid on a try for Ben Will.
Max McGucken added the first of his three goals before the break, then laid on the first of two tries for Harvey Braddish.
Adam Whalley gave Warrington some tangible reward for their efforts with a late try converted by Noah Booth.
