England Community Lions announce squads for internationals at Under 16, Under 17 and Under 18s levels

Following two impressive trial games last week at Sutton Park, home of Leigh Miners Rangers Academy, the England Community Lions have announced their international squads for Under 16, Under 17 and Under 18 internationals that will take place in the coming months.

Both Under 16s and Under 18s have an away game with Wales on 3rd June before home internationals against Ireland, Scotland and Wales again while the Under 17 squad will play host to a two-game series against France in July.

The Under 16s squad sees twenty players selected from thirteen different community clubs including three from Hensingham, and two each from Leigh Miners Rangers, West Hull, West Bank Bears, Wath Brow Hornets

  • Game 3 - V Ireland (home) – Saturday 2nd September – venue – Golborne Parkside Rivington Avenue, WA3 3HG – kick off – 12.00pm

  • Game 4 - V Wales (home) – Saturday 16th September – venue - Leigh Miners Academy, Sutton Park, Manchester Road Leigh WN7 2LZ – kick off – 12.00pm

 

The Under 17s sees representation from Brentwood Eels and Emley Moor amongst some famous names in community rugby league circles. In all eighteen players represent thirteen clubs with Waterhead Warriors proudly providing three members of the squad and Hensingham, two. Four players - Ruben Ruane, Joshua Langley, Marcus Geener and Fletcher Holgate all played for the Under 16s last year.

The two games against France will take place in Warrington, as follows:

  • Game 1 – v France Saturday 15th July kick off 11.00am at Victoria Park, Knutsford Road, Warrington  WA4 1DJ

  • Game 2 – v France Wednesday 19th July kick off 6.00pm at Victoria Park, Knutsford Road, Warrington  WA4 1DJ

 

The Under 18s are drawn from 14 different clubs with three players from Siddal, and two each from Dalton, Kells and Rochdale Mayfield. Oliver Smart steps up from the Under 16s squad last year.
