The seventh annual University Rugby League Origin takes place on Saturday 4th February, 3pm Kick Off at the Olympic Legacy Park Stadium, Sheffield. The move into the stadium adds prestige to the fixture, which sees the very best of the country's University Rugby League players going head to head.
The game sees the South take on the North in the annual clash, with a place in the England Universities squad up for grabs for the 40 players taking part.
Train on squads for both sides were selected from players who competed in the Inter-Regional Games in November and have been traiing over the past three weekends to prepare for the game. The Origin game is the last phase of the selection process, with Head Coach Kevin Deighton choosing 26 players to join the national team's squad.
"The coaches and team managers have been working hard over the last few weekends to preare the squads ahead of the game and their commitment to the Universities representiatve programme is outstanding" noted Deighton. "I have observed some of the sessions and had some great feedback from all involved and am really looking forward to seeing the players in action."
The final squads for the game will be announced later this week following the round of BUCS fixtures taking place on Wednesday.
Entry to the game is free with doors open from 2pm. Refreshments will be available.
