Keighley Cougars receive Betfred League One title in style

Keighley Cougars celebrated their Betfred League 1 title as they signed off with a 50-16 victory over North Wales Crusaders at Cougar Park.

Before being presented with the trophy, Cougars ran up the score one more time - though only after falling behind to Alex Eckley's early try for the Crusaders.

Charlie Graham had two tries and Jack Miller and James Feather got the others as Keighley eased into a 20-6 half-time lead.

The visitors struck first in the second half as well as Pat Ah Van cut the deficit, but it was only a temporary blip before Miller, Alix Stephenson, Dan Parker, Jake Webster, and Lewis Young all crossed for Keighley.

Rob Massam scored a last-minute try for Crusaders, but preparations for the trophy presentation were well under way by then.

Rochdale Hornets ran in an incredible 19 tries in a 102-4 demolition of West Wales Raiders.

Jy Hitchcox, Cian Tyrer, and Gregg McNally all had three each with Aiden Roden, Rob Worrincy, and Connor Aspey two apiece.

Dan Nixon, Rangi Chase, Ben Killan and Dan Brewin got the others at the Crown Oil Arena.

Shane Lee got the only try for Raiders.

Crusaders' loss at Keighley cost them second place in the table as Swinton Lions moved up with a 35-6 win over Oldham.

Oldham struck first through Joe Hartley with 12 minutes gone, but it was one-way traffic thereafter.

Richard Lepori and Max Roberts turned things around before half-time and Swinton then piled it on with second-half tries from Mitch Cox, Brad Holroyd, Lewis Hatton and Nick Gregson.

Jarred Bassett's hat-trick made the difference as London Skolars hung on for a 38-34 win over Midlands Hurricanes on Saturday.

On Friday, Doncaster turned on the style in the second half with 20 unanswered points as they beat Hunslet 32-20.
