Huddersfield secured their place in the Betfred play-offs after an impressive 36-10 home victory against the Castleford Tigers.

Lee Radford’s Castleford side started well with Greg Eden opening the scoring inside the first three minutes.

Olly Russell and Louis Senior hit back before the half hour mark, as the Giants went into the break with a 10-4 advantage.

The Tigers started the second half strong. Danny Richardson found touch with a 40/20 and from the resulting set, Gareth O’Brien picked out Alex Mellor who dived over to level the score.

Huddersfield then started to dominant the contest. Eden knocked on a high kick and Leroy Cudjoe touched down for an easy try. Then in the next set, Toby King made a break and he offloaded to Tui Lolohea who scored to put the Giants into a 22-10 lead.

Huddersfield added further points as Russell’s kick into the in-goal area was grounded by Ricky Leutele.

The night went from bad to worse for Castleford. From kick-off they opted to go short, but Louis Senior caught the ball and raced 60 metres as Huddersfield scored back-to-back tries as they led 32-10 with only 14 minutes remaining.

Chris McQueen added the icing to a perfect second half for the Giants. Russell missed the conversion which left the final score at 36-10 in favour of the hosts.
