NCL round 16 round-up

NCL round 16 round-up

A last minute try and the ice cool kicking and nerves of Harry Williams ensured both league points returned to Bradford as Stanningley and West Bowling played out an enjoyable midweek derby game in NCL Division One.
Leeds side Stanningley built a 14-0 advantage at half-time and led 10-0 after just five minutes following tries from Mekhi Bridgeman-Reaney and Dylan Wepener. Ben Selby converting the second.
Four minutes from the break Selby went in for his side's third try.
Winger Lewis Taylor began Bowling's fightback with their first try after 48 minutes. As they came back the influence of the middle forwards began to show and Nathaniel Light was next on the scoreboard after 56 minutes with Williams's conversion making it 14-10.
The sinbinning of sub Gavin Wilkinson threatened to slow Bowling but the Bradford side hit back again to level with Taylor scoring his second try to level the game.
A second try from Wepener put the hosts back in front with ten minutes remaining but a thrilling finish ensued with wing Nicholas Fontaine going in at the corner at the death before Williams hit the touchline conversion to bring a close to a fantastic game that combined with other results put West Bowling fourth.
In the Premier Division a thumping victory for West Hull over Rochdale Mayfield keeps them ahead of the trailing pack.
