Tom Johnstone to join Catalans Dragons in 2023

Catalans Dragons have announced the signing of Wakefield Trinity winger, Tom Johnstone.

Johnstone will join Catalans for the 2023 season on a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old made his Wakefield debut in March 2015 and has gone on to make 112 appearances, scoring 87 tries whilst at Trinity.

Johnstone also has made one England appearance against France in 2018, which he was able to complete a hat-trick on that evening.

Tom Johnstone said: “Firstly I want to thank Steve McNamara for the opportunity to come here. Once I’d spoken to him and heard what the club are aspiring to achieve, I knew it was perfect fit for me.”

“My main goal is to win a Grand Final and it would be incredible to do that and create history here.”

“I am really excited and grateful for the opportunity to play for such a great club.”

“It’s easy to see the passion the fans have, and I can’t wait to play for them next year.”

Johnstone was named as Super League Rookie of the Year in 2016, as well as being named in the 2018 Dream Team.

Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara said: “We are very happy to add Tom to our squad for next season. He has blistering speed, power and try scoring ability whilst having a desire to continue to develop all parts of his game. He will bring depth and competition to our wing spots in 2023.”
