Betfred Championship Round 15 Round-Up
London Broncos claimed a crucial 26-18 win at Dewsbury Rams to leapfrog their rivals and move out of the relegation zone in the Betfred Championship.
Broncos trailed to an opener from Michael Knowles for the hosts, but Alex Walker crossed for his second try of the afternoon early in the second half to give London a seemingly unassailable 20-6 advantage in difficult windy conditions.
Dewsbury rallied with a quick brace from Davey Dixon to put the outcome back in doubt, before loose forward Sam Hall, on a short-term loan from Castleford, barged over on his debut to effectively seal a priceless victory.
York City Knights hit back from behind to spoil John Kear's debut as Widnes coach with a 16-14 win at the Halton Stadium.
Danny Craven's opener and a brace from winger Ryan Ince gave the home side a commanding 14-4 lead at the interval.
But York rallied with Joe Brown, who had claimed their only points in the first period, crossing for his second to narrow the deficit, before Matty Marsh levelled and Jamie Ellis kicked what proved to be the match-winning conversion six minutes from time.
Jarrod Sammut staged a stunning one-man show as Barrow turned their Cumbrian derby at bottom club Workington into a cake-walk with a 58-0 win.
Sammut scored two of his side's 10 tries and kicked nine conversions for the visitors, for whom Hakim Miloudi, Luke Cresswell and Matty Costello also grabbed two tries each, while Tee Ritson and Jarrad Stack also scored.
Bradford Bulls reignited their play-off hopes with an impressive 30-10 win at Sheffield Eagles, with Ryan Miller crossing twice for the visitors.
Declan Patton also kicked four conversions, while Eagles, who were always chasing the game, scored two first-half tries from Kris Welham and Anthony Thackeray but failed to add to their tally after the break.
Batley Bulldogs served up a blistering second-half performance as they cruised to a 58-18 win over Newcastle Thunder.
Thunder had held the hosts to 12-12 at the break and went clear straight after break when Umyla Hanley crossed with a brilliant 90-metre effort.
Batley responded with 46 unanswered points, with Dale Morton, Alistair Leak, Luke Hooley and Jonny Campbell all finishing with two tries aplies and Tom Gilmore kicking nine conversions.
Halifax Panthers also turned on the style after the interval as they turned a 12-6 deficit into a 24-12 win over Whitehaven in wet conditions in Cumbria.
The visitors grabbed tries from Ben Tibbs, James Woodburn-Hall, Lachlan Walmsley and Daniel Murray, all of which were converted by Joe Keyes. Andrew Dawson and Ryan King crossed early for Whitehaven.
