Sheffield Eagles have announced the permanent signing of Tom Holmes on a deal until the end of the season.
Holmes has impressed in the Red and Gold since arriving from Championship leaders Featherstone Rovers in March.
The 26-year-old came through the system at his hometown club Castleford Tigers and has represented Huddersfield Giants in Super League.
The versatile half-back has featured in several positions - primarily at hooker to cover for the injured Vila Halafihi - during his spell with the Eagles and has formed a strong partnership with fellow playmakers Izaac Farrell and Anthony Thackeray.
Holmes has scored two tries and kicked eight goals during his nine-match loan spell at the Eagles.
"Tom has been outstanding throughout his loan spell and we have jumped at the chance to bring him to Sheffield permanently," said Eagles Director of Rugby Mark Aston
"He has had to play in a number of positions that he is rather unfamiliar with but he's been a standout performer, excelling with 80-minute performances.
"Team spirit and camaraderie is something that we hold in high regard at the Eagles and Tom came in and added to that immediately.
"We have a very talented group of half-backs at the club who all learn from each other.
"Tom's experience at Super League level has already helped everyone progress and it will continue to push us on to be a better team."
The signing of Holmes follows the return of Cory Aston who rejoined Sheffield on an initial three-week loan deal from Halifax Panthers on Wednesday.
Tom is sponsored by Caistor Lakes & Andy Tyers and will continue to wear shirt number 28 for the Eagles.Sheffield Eagles are thrilled to announce the permanent signing of Tom Holmes on a deal until the end of the season.
