Betfred Women's Super League Round 2 Round-Up

St Helens suffered their first on-field defeat since 2019 as Tara-Jane Stanley inspired a come-from-behind 13-6 victory for York City Knights.

The defending Betfred Women's Super League champions went ahead early on at the York Community Stadium when Leah Burke burrowed under some opposing defenders to score, with Zoe Harris adding the goal.

But the hosts drew level on the quarter hour - three minutes after falling behind - when Grace Field touched down, converted by Stanley, who shone in the second half.

Stanley touched down after a mazy run then added the extras to her own try after 54 minutes before nailing a drop goal moments before the hooter sounded to hand York the Group One points.

In Group Two, Fran Copley bagged two tries and two conversions as Featherstone Rovers brushed aside Castleford Tigers 56-6.

Amie Backhouse's converted try for Rovers was cancelled out by Maisie Lumb but Featherstone did not look back from the moment Natalie Carr scored the first of her two tries.

Backhouse and Carr crossed again to put Featherstone 22-6 up at half-time before Zoe Teese, Olivia Grace (2), Hannah Watt, Copley (2) and Shanelle Mannion touched down after the interval.

Georgia Sutherland scored five of Warrington Wolves' 17 tries as they sealed a comprehensive 86-0 victory over Wakefield Trinity.

Sami Simpson grabbed a hat-trick of tries while Michelle Davis touched down twice, with Amy Daniels, Claire Mullaney, Charlotte Foley, Ellie Jelves, Abi Johnston, Charlize Magraw and Amy Johnson also getting on the scoresheet in a one-sided contest.

Alice Fisher's try six minutes from time secured a 12-8 victory for Bradford Bulls over Leigh Miners Rangers on Saturday.

Robyn Bell-Soppelsa gave Leigh the lead but that was cancelled out by Katie Whelan in a nip-and-tuck contest. Bradford went ahead for the first time through Lily Williams after the interval and although Bell-Soppelsa levelled proceedings, the Bulls had the last laugh through Fisher.
